When It's All Crashing Down - How Do We Respond?

The other Friday I caught 007's return in Quantum of Solace. This is not a review of the film, but I will say that it was good for the action. One friend mentioned it as a great companion piece with Casino Royale, picking up where that one left off. I say you put both together, and they each balance the other out in "Twix Bar" fashion. Actually, we'll need a third one to achieve "Twix" status. Three components make a Twix, all Twixed out... chocolate, caramel, and the cookie-crisp center. So we got the cookie-crisp emotional core of Bond with Royale... we got the sugary chocolate coating of typical Bond action with Quantum... now we just need some malleable caramelly Bond-brand psycho-drama (hey, is that Michael Douglas "Falling Down"?) substance to make it all cohesive. Give us the caramel Hollywood... give us the Double-"0"-Twix. Is anyone feelin' that, or something like it? I don't know if I am even fully aware of what, if anything, is being conveyed... but anyway...

NOW on to what I intended to post! Did anyone watching Quantum catch the Sony HD commercial in your theater right before the movie? Wow... amazing!

It's not that it's Bond. It's not that everything's exploding, crashing, flying, and crumbling all around him. It's not that the sound is way muted on everything except the subtle music (by the Shins) playing in the surround system.

It's that everything portrayed in that clip represents my life in this season. Especially over the past two weeks... everything around me is getting blasted... I'm feeling the effects of it all... but it doesn't get my focus. I'm focused on something other than destruction's din. And I'm still left standing with a peacefully subtle smile when "it's" done hitting the fan and the fan has long since shorted out.

Still standing... with a peacefully subtle smile...

Here's the video:
